Worst-Performing Cryptos of 2025: Toncoin & Avalanche (AVAX) Lead with 95% and 66% of Investors in the Red

The cryptocurrency market has had a rocky start to 2025, with many digital assets struggling to hold onto last year’s gains. Toncoin and Avalanche (AVAX) were among the biggest disappointments, facing significant declines and leaving investors deep in the red.

According to data presented by CryptoPresales.com, these two cryptocurrencies have performed the worst year-to-date, with 95% of Toncoin holders and 66% of AVAX investors facing losses. Here’s how other major cryptos fared in this downturn.

Shiba Inu, Ethereum, and Chainlink Also Suffer, with 58%, 44%, and 39% of Investors in the Red

After a fantastic January that saw all major cryptocurrencies rally, February brought a wave of volatility, causing crypto prices to nosedive. All top cryptocurrencies took a hit, with Solana and Dogecoin suffering the most, each plunging over 40% by the month’s end. While some investors sought refuge in stablecoins, many still faced double-digit losses amid the turbulence.

Among them, Toncoin and Avalanche stood out for all the wrong reasons. IntoTheBlock data revealed that a staggering 95% of Toncoin investors were in the red last week, with only 3.5% managing to turn a profit. This aligns with Toncoin’s sharp price drop, trading at $3 at the time of writing, a steep 56% fall from its December high of $6.90.

Avalanche wasn’t far behind. AVAX has faced sharp declines over the past few months, and despite initial hopes for a rebound, its performance has been quite disappointing, with a significant portion of its investor base now in the red. Last week, 66% of its investors were in the red, while only 24% saw gains, making it the second-worst performer of the year so far.

Shiba Inu, Ethereum, and Chainlink also ranked high on this infamous list. Shiba Inu investors have had a rough ride, with 58% in the red despite 37% managing to stay profitable, ranking it as the third worst-performing crypto. Meanwhile, Ethereum and Chainlink, despite having over half of their holders in profit, still saw 44% and 39% of their investors in negative territory, placing them fourth and fifth among the worst performers.

TRON, Bitget Token, and UNUS SED LEO are the Best Performers

Unlike Toncoin, Avalanche, and Shiba Inu, which caused more pain than profit, TRON, Bitget Token, and UNUS SED LEO were the top three performers. Statistics show that TRON was the absolute winner among the top cryptos, with a whopping 96.6% of holders in profit last week.

Investing in Bitget Token also proved to be an excellent choice, with 96.2% of holders making money. UNUS SED LEO also delivered strong returns, with 93.5% of its holders reaping gains. Rounding out the top performers are Bitcoin, Wrapped Bitcoin, and Bitcoin Cash, which have rewarded 86%, 77%, and 73% of their holders, respectively.
